Teen of Impact 2026

I’m raising money for the American Heart Association. I hope you’ll consider making a donation.

Over the last few years, my daughter Kessa has been experiencing heart-related symptoms — racing pulse, lightheadedness, etc. We’re working through the process of getting a diagnosis and trying to figure out what’s actually going on. She’s an ambitious girl who dreams big, and having health issues has been hard on her. But she’s turning outward instead of inward, and I’m so proud of her for it.

Kessa is one of five nominees in Utah for the American Heart Association’s Teen of Impact program. It’s a nine-week challenge to raise funding and awareness for the AHA, and the competition begins today. Each team is led by a teen who cares about heart health. Kessa isn’t just asking people for donations — she’s learning leadership and networking skills. And she’s invited me to be part of her team during this challenge.

Nearly half of adults in the USA have some form of cardiovascular disease. This is an issue that affects us all. Donations to the American Heart Association support research efforts to treat and prevent heart conditions, promote education, advocate for healthier policies, provide CPR training, and so much more.

I hope you’ll join me in supporting Kessa and the American Heart Association. A $50 or $100 donation makes a huge difference, but whatever you can give helps.

Thank you!
